Nobody understands measurement and analysis better than SMS. We know from experience that quantitative approaches deliver real business value. Improvement and measurement are two sides of the same coin. Organisations are unlikely to achieve lasting performance improvements without a sustained, successful, measurement regime. Yet many organisations still struggle to implement and sustain successful software measurement programmes. This is where applying SMS's unsurpassed expertise in techniques for functional size measurement, estimating, quantifying and evaluating software intensive systems can make the one change that really needs to be made to improve software performance. Software Measurement Services (SMS) began life in 1994 as the Guild of Independent Function Point Analysts with an emphasis on excellence and rigorous standards in functional size measurement. The company was renamed in 1998 to reflect our emphasis on applying our experience of measurement and improvement methods to achieve business benefits for our customers. Companies who use our services can expect to see real improvements in their bottom line results. These benefits are brought about by a reduction of cost due to a lowering of wasted effort and rework; an increased market share due to improved customer satisfaction; and an increase in the quality of the software they deliver to their clients. They also benefit from improved predictability in their processes allowing them to make profitable bids for work with less risk. Clients who have their own metrics functions still find our range of expertise and experience invaluable in assisting them control their business endeavours. SMS works across Europe and Scandinavia, and our consultancy team includes a fluent French speaker (French national). SMS offers training, mentoring, coaching and consultancy in:
